Southgate stated he was against the proposal, as harder to manage players expectations regarding game time and taking them away for the summer, away from familys and less rest?

Surely, having more players to choose from is a good thing? The England squad is very tight at the moment, and this might allow for Trent Alexander-Arnold, James Maddison, Jack Grealish and Saka chance to get into the squad for much needed tournament experience... Not that will get the same atmosphere with 25% capacity....

I would speak to the 3 players he probably was not going to take and explain , some players may love the experience others might rather spend summer with their family and you could not blame them after the last 18 months

Southgate, I imagine, can take 23 if he wants?

Although I don't see the point of that - the more the merrier, especially with 5 subs allowed, and the extra players will probably be aware that they may not get a game.

I reckon he should take Bellingham, 'cos he's gonna be pick alot in the future, so tournament experience now would be beneficial.
